Julie grew up by the sea in a small village in Cheshire, England. She inherited her keen sense of style from her mum who was a knitwear designer and her photographer dad. Julie knew at a young age that she wanted to be a fashion buyer and ultimately have her own boutique. After graduating from university, Julie obtained one of the coveted executive training positions at Harrods, London. Her success was aided by a unique outfit that her mum had designed and knit for her that helped her stand out from the group and caught the eye of the Harrods fashion buyer.

While attending graduate school in the United States, Julie had met her future husband, Alex. In 1983, they married and Julie left Harrods and London and moved permanently to the United States. After working as a buyer for several high-end boutiques out West, she and Alex decided to settle in New Paltz, Alex’s hometown, to be closer to family and friends. In July, 1993, Julie’s long time dream became a reality and Rambling Rose Boutique opened its doors. Julie currently resides in Gardiner, New York with her husband Alex, beautiful daughter Lily and various assorted animals.

Julie has a passion for helping women discover their unique beauty and innate sense of style. She can usually be found in the store working with clients, as a trained bra fitter she likes to work from the “inside out.” When not in the store she can be found down in New York City on the hunt for new and exciting items to bring into the store and into your life.
